Tank Field Update
We are proud to announce that in August of 2007 the Tank Field was granted Village Green status by the Village Green & Common Land Committee of Stoke On Trent City Council. This status now gives the Tank Field lawful protection from encroachment, development and misuse. Also giving us the residents of this village the right to use this land for legal recreation in perpetuity. This protection can never be taken away from us ....... We now have protection for all our open green areas as the two greens on Ball Lane and Foundry Square are registered common land and enjoy the same legal protection.

"ONCE A VILLAGE GREEN ALWAYS A VILLAGE GREEN."

Norton Green Residents Association would like to express its most sincere thanks to all residents who took their time to fill out and return the support forms for the application back in the Autumn of 2005.
Without your help and cooperation the application would not have been possible.

Please continue to enjoy the Tank Field!

"Local councillors give project £30,000 boost"
The first stage of improvements to facilities on the Tank field are set to begin in the spring thanks to funding of £30,000 from the Area Implementation Ward Budget. Local Ward Councillors - Matthews, Smith and Rigby along with the Area Implementation Team (A.I.T), agreed the financial aid in October of 2007. This now enables Phase1 of the project to begin. This will include drainage of the sports area and a divisional path to cease the encroachment of the wetland area upon the sports field.

The Residents Association have also employed Groundwork Stoke on Trent to project manage the scheme and to help us to source further funding to enable the completion of the project.

Many thanks to our Local Councillors and the A.I.T for their generosity and support to the future of the Tank Field.

Norton Green Residents Association are always looking for enthusiastic new members. So if you feel that you have a little spare time and wish to help us continue to improve our village, please get in touch through the contacts below.....

First Publication An Overwelming Success!
On Saturday 6th December, following 12months of research, Norton Green History group launched its first publication 'Memories of Norton Green - the first village on the River Trent'. The event was held at the Zion Methodist Chapel, Endon Road and the response we recieved was astounding with eager residents queing out of the Chapel and up the road. The most fitting quote of the day came from an elderley lady who has lived in Norton Green all her life,

"I havent seen anything like this in the village since the Coronation of the King in 1937"!

Over 400 copies were handed out over the next few hours as the demand continued. We also took names and addresses of a further 100 people who attended the event in the hope of receiving a copy. Following our launch we have distributed a further 350 copies to anyone who has requested one. There are still a number of copies available to residents of the village - please get in touch if you haven't yet received a copy.
The book launch also generated £180 in donations which we forwarded to the Zion Methodist Chapel in recognition of their continuing support for our group.
