Topic: Surname Potts/Savage
Hello
I am trying to find out more about my family history Potts/Savage of Norton Green.
My grandfather was Norman Potts born 1906 and died 1940, he died at Lane ends, Brown Edge, Norton according to his certificate.
Could you please tell me where this is/was?
My GGrand father was Daniel Savage of Bews Buildings and I believe that he painted a mural on the gable end of his home and that there are photos of this, do you happen to know where I can find out any more?
Yours gratefully

'Ow at,
Great site, well done, it makes my mouth water just looking at the photo of the "Quart." I've learned more about "The Grayn" in 10 minutes on this site than I did when I lived there on & off for 30 years.
Regards,

Topic: Sherratts
Hi Friend
I am doing the Genealogy of my family the Sherratts who originate from your area - my branch of the family started to spell it Sharratt when they moved to Lancashire in the late Nineteenth Century.
My ancestors actually came from Cheddleton and Ipstones but myself and other family members, doing this search with me, feel that the Sherratts were probably all linked. We wondered if you or any of your members could tell us anything about the Sherratts who owned the Cockshead Colliery or anything else about the history of the family in you area?
Other families connected with the Sherratts through marriage are the Clowes, Finneys, Goostreys, Goldstraws and Speakmans amongst others and we shall keep a watch on your site for helpful information. Also, if I or any of many fellow researchers find anything which might be of interest to you we will let you know.
Look forward to hearing from you
Ron Sharratt

Topic: Surname Pointon/Ball
Hello
As I have many Pointon ancestors originating from Norton Green and Brown Edge, I would like to check out the parish registers for St. Bartholomews.
I would be grateful if you could tell me if any of them have been published and if so where I can obtain copies.
In particular I am trying to establish a marriage between William Pointon and Phebe Ball on May 14 1817, looking for the names of their parents.
Can anyone help please?
Regards - Joan Salmon (nee Pointon) top
