Fire at local centre in Ball Green - Monday June 20 2011
On Monday 20 June 2011 at 8pm we received reports of a fire at the adult and youth centre on Wilding Road, Ball Green. A number of fire crews from across the city had to attend to deeal with the incident which has now left the building demolished. This is upsetting news as local residents were keen on getting this building developed for use by the whole community.
An arrest was made and the defendant is to appear in court for this offence.
New team member - June 10 2011

Community Police Post Norton le Moors - Tue 22 March 2011
March 22 2011 saw the opening of our new Police Post on Knypersley Road Norton le Moors. When the old post was closed 4 years ago on Pinfold Avenue the residents were promised by a previous Inspector that a new post would be reinstated this didn't happen then along came Inspector Mark Hardern who I have to say listened to the residents and residents association committees concerns about losing the post and the rise of more anti-social behaviour around the area.
I was aware that a shop on knypersley road had become vacant and there was a proposal to put an off licence in it. A number of residents complained that another off licence surely would increase the anti social behaviour so alongside the residents association and the police we raised a petition and objected to the proposal our objection succeeded.
The next step was the vacant property this was discussed at an AIT meeting and John Fletcher the northern housing manager suggested to me that we might be able to use the premises for a community hub/police post we discussed this with Inspector Mark Hardern who agreed it would be an ideal spot because it is accessible from not only Norton but also Ball Green and Norton Green as it is sited near to the only post office for the area.
It has taken many months and long conversations and correspondence with both the Police Authority and the City Council to get the post approved, using £3,000 from the ward budget plus finance from the Police this has helped to refurbish the property and all the work carried out has been worthwhile because the post has now been opened one target has been reached now we hope the whole community can receive the benefits.
